Marvin Gaye family wins 'Blurred Lines' ruling
Lawsuit against controversial Robin Thicke/Pharrell song rolls on...
The family for Marvin Gaye have won a critical ruling in its copyright infringement lawsuit against pop stars Robin Thicke and Pharrell Williams.
This latest development means the ongoing legal dispute will head to a jury trial next February. It is alleged that Thicke and Williams - who pre-emptively sued the Gaye family - stole from Marvin Gaye's hit 'Got To Give It Up' while writing 'Blurred Lines'.
“Marvin Gaye’s ‘Got To Give It Up’ is iconic, and we believe the evidence of copying of this legend’s work is overwhelming,” said representative for the Gaye family, Nashville entertainment attorney Richard Busch. “The Gaye family and our entire team now look forward to the trial of this case.”
