Martin Stephenson & The Daintees announce Dublin date
It's their first Irish show since the '90s.
The very fine 1969 Records label is bringing Martin Stephenson & The Daintees to Whelan’s on November 12 for their first Irish show in over 20 years.
Part of the same classic Kitchenware roster as Prefab Sprout and The Kane Gang, Stephenson and his cohorts released three classic folk-pop records – Boat To Bolivia, Gladsome, Humour & Blue and The Boy’s Heart – before gradually fading from view and disbanding in 1993.
Now back operating as a five-piece, they received rave reviews this year for their Glastonbury appearance.
We still have fond memories of them jumping into the crowd at Limerick’s Cruises Hotel during the late ‘80s and jamming out a brilliant ‘Down By The Riverside’, tuba and all.
