LISTEN: Newstalk's Bobby Kerr travels to the Hot Press Covers Exhibition
The radio presenter took a trip to the Exhibition alongside Editor Niall Stokes.
The exhibition is currently running in the National Photographic Archive in Temple Bar – right beside Rory Gallagher Corner – and Bobby came down to have a walk around with Hot Press editor Niall Stokes. The National Photographic Archive is part of the National Library – where, of course, every copy of Hot Press can be read, from the first issue in 1977 onwards.
Bobby is a man who knows his music – and he recalled telling his father that he was going to a poetry reading, so that he could drive off to the Macroom Festival, which was an important launching pad for Hot Press. And, of course, the headliner that day was the great Rory Gallagher himself.
One of the joys of the modern era is the ease with which material like this can be shared – and so we thought we’d do just that. Thanks a million to Bobby and the team at Newstalk.
