"She very graciously agreed to open the show for us in Dublin," Jarvis Cocker says of Lisa O'Neill's upcoming support slot. "I'll be hiding behind the curtain listening to her again..."
With less than a month to go until Pulp's highly anticipated headline show at Dublin's 3Arena on June 10, we can reveal that Lisa O'Neill is set to perform as the night's special guest – as requested by Jarvis Cocker himself.
The gig – which is part of a wider tour of the UK and Ireland – is set to take place just days after the release of More, Pulp's first album in almost 24 years (out June 6, via Rough Trade Records).
Speaking as part of his cover story interview in the new issue of Hot Press, out this week, Jarvis remarks that he's "very happy" to have Lisa O'Neill kicking off proceedings in Dublin.
“She supported us at, well I always call it Hammersmith Odeon, but it's now called the Eventim Apollo," he resumes. "It's a venue that I'd always wanted to play in London. I've seen some amazing shows there, and Lisa opened for us there. And both nights I went and listened to her from behind the curtain that we have in front of the stage. And so, she very graciously agreed to open the show for us in Dublin. I’ll be hiding behind the curtain listening to her again.”
As was announced back in November, Lisa has also been invited by the band to appear at the Tramlines Festival in Sheffield on July 25, as part of an opening night curated by Pulp.

Back in 2023, when she was announced for Pulp's Eventim Apollo show, Lisa took to social media to reflect on the impact of the band's music in her own life:
"Way back yonder in the 1995, I was beginning my first of 5 years in Cavan vocational school and I genuinely thought that the year 2000 would never come," she wrote. "Then low and behold on November 27th 1995, Pulp released their lighthouse of song ['Disco 2000'] that would carry mine and millions of other romantic hearts through secondary school and beyond..."
Pulp's upcoming album More – which is dedicated to their late bassist Steve Mackey, who passed away in 2023 – was recorded over the course of three weeks with James Ford, in Walthamstow, London.
"This is the shortest amount of time a Pulp album has ever taken to record," Jarvis comments. "It was obviously ready to happen...
"We hope you enjoy the music," he continues. "It was written & performed by four human beings from the North of England, aided & abetted by five other human beings from various locations in the British Isles. No A.I. was involved during the process."

Following a phenomenal run of sold-out shows – including a recent four-night residency at Dublin's Gate Theatre – Lisa O'Neill has cemented her status as one of the country's most captivating performers. The Cavan singer-songwriter, who's currently working on new material for her next album, released her latest single, 'Homeless In The Thousands (Dublin In The Digital Age)', featuring Peter Doherty, earlier this year.
She also features on the track 'Poca Mahoney's' on Doherty's upcoming album Felt Better Alive.
"The ‘My little soul was five-years old’ line – which is really dark – comes from her telling me this horrible story about a priest and a girl," he recently said of Lisa's influence on the song, as part of an interview with Hot Press. "I did a little spoken word thing on her song, ‘Homeless In The Thousands (Dublin In The Digital Age)’ and she repaid the compliment on ‘Poca Mahoney’s’...
"She might see it differently, but I think we became firm friends and soulmates in a short space of time."
