Kopek to Headline Special Sugar Club Show
The Dublin trio are among the acts waving goodbye to DJ and promoter Marcus Lester.
Dublin based DJ, promoter and former indie label guru Marcus Lester is soon packing up and leaving this fair city of ours in search of pastures new. To celebrate, Marcus will independently release a compilation album titled Plug Artists 'Songs & Stories' (2006-2012), and host a special farewell show at Dublin's Sugar Club venue.
The 11 tracks will feature work from artists he's worked with over the years including Kopek, 12 Dirty Bullets, Zemaria, Tucan, Fusion Family, Skuzziport, Digital Circus, String Theory Sound System, N.C Lawlor and The Violet Roadkills, as well as work from producers Danny Saber (Madonna/Public Enemy/Robert Plant) and Brian Masterson (Norah Jones/U2/Echo & The Bunnymen) amongst others, and is available from iTunes on January 18.
Kopek will line-up alongside Kopek, Tucan, NC Lawlor, Skuzzi Port and a host of other special guests for the Sugar Club show on Friday, January 18.
In Marcus' own words:
"The idea was to basically catalogue the last number of years on this particular aspect of my journey within the music industry and working with so many great people. I have just taken time out to write and score a number of works as it is something i just never had time for before and was the original reason i got into music but I kind of forgot that somewhere along the way with everything else going on! This is the last hurrah, an opportunity to all get together and have one big laugh at all the great memories we shared together playing gigs or working in studio or being broken down in the middle of the night on the way home from a gig many miles from a street light. Most of the bands are doing really great things now which is really great to see and glad I could be part of the journey."
