Kool DJ Herc Dublin-bound
Hip hop luminary Kool DJ Herc will grace the Red Box on April 30
The man described by Afrikka Bambaattaa as "one of the architects of rap", Kool DJ Herc, pays an April 30 visit to the Dublin Red Box.
Having moved to New York from Jamaica in 1967, Herc started throwing parties in his own apartment building which took the likes of James Brown, Aretha Franklin and Jimmy Castor and funked them up good with extra breakbeats. Add in some wanton echo chamber tomfoolery and – voila! – the birth of a genre.

Making sure there's no let up in the Red Box dancefloor action are local heroes Tu Ki and Cool C.
