Kilkenny Rhythm 'n' Roots Festival announces schedule
Taking place this year in late April, the Kilkenny Rhythm 'n' Roots Festival will showcase a wealth of international bands
The town of Kilkenny should start preparing for a small invasion as the Carlsberg Rhythm n Roots weekend gets underway from April 29.
Described by a tartrazine-dosed Colm O’Hare as “three days of heaven on earth”, the festival will see a host of international acts contribute to the bank holiday weekend’s festivities including The Waifs from Australia, Germany’s Spo-Dee-O-Dee, the Dutch Ranch House Favourites and Th’ Legendary Shack * Shack from America, whose fans include the Dead Kennedy’s Jello Biafra, curiously enough.
Irish acts set to take the stage in the festival’s 8th year include Patrick Street, Two Time Polka, Prison Love and the Niall Toner Band, who received the rare honour of receiving a 9.5/10 review from this begrudging publication.
