Johnny Marr announces show at Dublin's National Stadium
Former Smiths guitarist and acclaimed solo artist, Johnny Marr, has announced details of a major tour in support of his new album, including a Dublin show at The National Stadium.
Call The Comet will be released on June 15th. Johnny Marr is currently completing a tour of intimate venues which included a totally sold out Button Factory show in Dublin.
Recorded with his band at Marr’s Crazy Face Studios in Manchester, Call The Comet is his third solo record and follows his two previous efforts, The Messenger (2013) and Playland (2014).
“Call The Comet is my own magic realism,” Marr said of the new album. “It’s set in the not-too-distant future and is mostly concerned with the idea of an alternative society. The characters in the songs are searching for a new idealism, although there are some personal songs in there too. It’s something that people like me can relate to.”
Tickets for Johnny Marr at The National Stadium go on sale this Friday, June 1 at 9am from Ticketmaster. The show takes place on November 2.
