Gilla Band shares new single
'Giraffe' is the first single from Gilla Band in nearly four years.
Dublin post-punk and noise rock band Gilla Band have shared their new single 'Giraffe'.
They also shared news of a Giraffe tour, beginning in October, which will span across North America, Europe, and the UK.
Founded in 2011, Gilla Band comprises vocalist Dara Kiely, guitarist Alan Duggan, bassist Daniel Fox, and drummer Adam Faulkner.
"In this track, the first few sections represent what my general headspace is like," explains Kielty.
"It can be a very scattered and sometimes lonely place. Feeling unloved and find it difficult to articulate what I'm actually thinking. The outro, on the other hand, indirectly details a kind of confirmation that affection towards me does exist".
"While I appreciate it, I still find that hard to believe. 'She chased me out the door with a hairbrush, demanding that I would wear a suitable jacket'. It's a very Irish Mammy action. That amount of love is difficult for me to accept, but it is a beautiful thing to have in life".
Gilla Band, formerly known as Girl Band have released 3 studio albums and 1 live album. Two of those albums, The Talkies (2019) and Most Normal (2022), were shortlisted for Irish Album of the Year at the RTÉ Choice Music Awards.
