Jim Kerr a Music Show fan
The Simple Minds legend is impressed with this year's RDS line-up.
Simple Minds legend Jim Kerr has sent his best wishes to The Music Show 2010, which takes place this weekend in the Dublin RDS.
“I really enjoyed The Music Show last year,” he enthuses. “I’ve been following it on the internet – you have a great line-up this year. Geldof is fantastic. And Steve Lillywhite too! I would love to hear what he has to say!”
Jim who worked with Lillywhite on Simple Minds’ Sparkle In The Rain album was full of compliments for the producer.
‘Steve is the best and we hold him in great esteem still,” he resumes.
Jim took part in last year’s songwriting panel, but made sure he checked out lots more Music Show happenings during his visit.
“It was not only great fun, as a trip to Dublin always is, it was so interesting. I especially remember the debate about illegal downloading.”
Jim is also full of praise for this year’s public interviewee.
“I really admire Bob for all he’s done and all that he’s become,” Kerr concludes. “But whenever anyone mentions his name I always remember the first time we saw The Rats in Glasgow. I thought they were really fantastic. A lot of the so-called punk bands that we had seen were excitiing but also disappointing. And then came The Rats with a great show, tunes and all that charisma and energy. I really thought Geldof was a great, great frontman.”
While disappointed that he can’t make it to this year’s Music Show, Jim is looking forward to bringing his Lostboy! AKA side-project to the Spring & Airbrake, Belfast (November 10); Cyrus Avenue, Cork (11); Wexford Arts Centre (12); and Academy 2, Dublin (13).
The Music Show, presented by Hot Press in association with RTÉ 2fm, Irish Independent & Evening Herald, runs from October 2nd-3rd in The RDS, Dublin. Saturday 2nd October 10 am - 6.30 pm, Sunday 3rd October 11 am - 6.30 pm.
