J. Cole drops surprise album Might Delete Later dissing Kendrick Lamar
"I got a phone call, they say that somebody dissing / You want some attention, it come with extensions"
J. Cole has fired back against Kendrick Lamar's recent diss with the surprise release of a new album titled Might Delete Later. The feud between the two rap titans escalated when Lamar took shots at Drake and J. Cole on the track 'Like That,' featured on Future and Metro Boomin's album We Don’t Trust You. Lamar's verse, referencing the "big three," suggested he stood alone in terms of talent among the trio.
Cole's response comes in the form of a 12-track album, featuring the closing track '7 Minute Drill,' which directly addresses Lamar's comments. In this track, Cole critically evaluates Lamar's body of work, suggesting a decline in quality over the years. Despite the confrontational tone, Cole states, "Blood don’t make me have to smoke this n—a ’cause I fuck with him / But push come to shove on this mic I will humble him."
Alongside the album, Cole made a new Instagram account as well as a post about the album, garnering nearly one million likes in the first 7 hours.
