Inhaler release new single 'Hole In The Ground'
In the midst of their Open Wide world tour, Inhaler return with 'Hole In the Ground'
Inhaler have released their new single 'Hole In The Ground'.
The new track follows the release of the Dublin band's third album Open Wide, released earlier this year. The band have spent much of 2025 on tour, performing across the world, including performances at Glastonbury and Electric Picnic.
'Hole In the Ground' was recorded over the summer with Grammy award-winning record producer Kid Harpoon at Abbey Road Studios. The track first premiered at the band's Liverpool Arena show last week.
“To us, ‘Hole In The Ground’ is a song that was born out of our stream of consciousness. Some time away from writing allowed us to go into the studio with a sort of blank slate which felt inspiring,” frontman Eli Hewson says.
“It can be hard to talk about the meaning of our own songs sometimes but we see it as something fragile growing amongst a wreckage. Or that last blurry memory you have of a person. It’s sort of a meditation on hope and keeping yourself awake to life."
'Hole In The Wall' stays true to the group's classic indie-rock melodrama, with sad 80s-sounding instrumentals suggesting an influence from the likes of The Smiths and The Pixies. The lyrics discuss themes of yearning as melodies ache with every note.
The group originally formed while attending school together at St. Andrews in Blackrock - with guitarist Josh Jenkinson joining the lineup in 2015. They've gone on to support acts such as Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, Arctic Monkeys, Harry Styles and Pearl Jam.
Additionally, their debut album, It Won’t Always Be Like This, hit #1 in the UK and Ireland, while their 2023 follow-up,
Cuts & Bruises, topped the Irish charts and reached #2 in the UK.
The band will end the year will a headline show at the New Year's Festival at Dublin Castle on New Year's Eve. Tickets can be found here.
