Grian Chatten releases new track for Peaky Blinders film soundtrack
"[...] I'm just a groupee," says Cillian Murphy on Fontaines D.C.
Grian Chatten has released his new song 'Puppet', written for the upcoming Peaky Blinders: Immortal Man soundtrack.
The film is set reach cinemas in March, and will star familiar faces such as Cillian Murphy and Barry Keoghan.
Known as the frontman of Fontaines D.C., Chatten made his solo debut with Chaos For The Fly in 2023, and is also set to feature on the upcoming Help (2) War Child benefit album. 'Puppet' was a collaborative effort between Chatten and English composers Antony Glenn and Martin Slattery.
The full soundtrack will feature 36 tracks, including 5 new original recordings. Several Fontaines D.C. tracks will feature on the album, with other recordings set to come from Amy Taylor of Amyl & The Sniffers, Nick Cave and Lankum.
Last night, Chatten and Murphy met with BBC Radio 1's Jack Saunders to discuss the upcoming film's soundtrack, with Murphy sharing he first saw Fontaines D.C. perform in 2019.
"[It was] in Vicar Street and then we were really lucky to get to the album launch of Romance and it was amazing," Murphy told Radio 1, "So just, you know, I'm just a groupee".
“The Fontaines music seems to work. It has that outlaw and dangerous quality… it just clicked for us," the actor added.
"There’s a lot of tension and the characters in the Peaky Blinders canon are full of tension, and there’s two sides in all of this," said Chatten. "No one is ever straightforward, so I was trying to choose that balance in the song.”
