Gavin Friday - album & documentary
The singer and composer has signed to the Rubyworks label, and will release new material soon
Rubyworks have announced the signing of singer, composer and artiste Gavin Friday to the label.
Gavin has been working on songs for a new studio album since 2008; co-writing with Cork based keyboard player Herbie Macken.
Recording for the new album started last summer in Dublin, with producer Ken Thomas (Sigur Ros, Moby, M83) at the controls. It is currently being scheduled for a late summer release. It will be Gavin's first solo album since 1995's Shag Tobacco.
Meanwhile, a documentary about the singer will air tonight at 10.15pm on RTE One. Entitled Ladies & Gentlemen, Gavin Friday, it is part of RTÉ’s 'Arts Lives' series. With contributions from lifelong friends and collaborators including Bono, The Edge, Jim Sheridan and Neil Jordan, and a poignant interview with his mother, this film explores the life of this unique Dublin personality.
