The start of June sees Havana Cultura hit the West
Once again this June, Havana Cultura is coming to Galway’s Latin Quarter (or the area on the left bank of the Corrib, to you and me). Having successfully launched last year as the Little Havana Festival, Havana Cultura will be putting on over sixty free events between June 3-5, all courtesy of Havana Club, the authentic Cuban Rum.
At the centre of the festivities will be the return of the legendary Cuban All Stars, as well as performances from Sabor Cubano and the Cuban Jazz Project. Representing the city, Galway’s very own eight piece salsa band Cuba Libre will also play. But the action won’t just confined to the main stage on Mainguard Street. The whole of Ireland’s Cultural Heart will be injected with a little latin flavour for the weekend.
From Havana Club mojito classes to Cuban photo exhibitions, there’s a lot going on. Or you could just soak in the atmosphere, enjoy the street entertainment, then head to the pub for some music and dance. In other words – craic agus ceol, Cuban style.
