Katell Keineg: “Franklin” (Elektra)
Katell Keineg: “Franklin” (Elektra)
The Breton folk protest tradition is alive and well on this tale of the better-late-than-never ejection of the parasitic, self-centred male. No more despicable creature is there than the masculine user-type, but Keineg manages to subvert the expected and justified feminist bile and bitterness by substituting a humourously caricatured portrait of the Everyman-like ‘Franklin’. As usual there’s a lot of indulgent meta-technical vocalising which Katell’s energy just about manages to skirt over.
