Foo Fighters commemorate 30th anniversary with new single

30 years after their self-titled debut album, Foo Fighters have released their newest single 'Today's Song' this afternoon.
The track is Foo Fighters' first release since their 2023 album But Here We Are, which peaked at No. 3 on Irish album charts and was highly recommended in Hot Press's best albums of 2023.
'Today's Song' optimistically draws on themes of evolution and resilience amid uncertain times, with lyrics including, "You know that nothing can prepare you / Don’t let this cruel world compare you / Waiting for someone to repair you."
The cover art was created by Harper Grohl, 16-year-old daughter of frontman Dave Grohl.

Dave Grohl released a statement addressed to fans along with the song, in which he reflected on his time with Foo Fighters.
"Over the years, we’ve had moments of unbridled joy, and moments of devastating heartbreak. Moments of beautiful victory, and moments of painful defeat. We have mended broken bones and broken hearts. But we have followed this road together, with each other, for each other, no matter what. Because in life, you just can’t go it alone," Grohl wrote.
Grohl expressed thanks to past members of the band, including drummers William Goldsmith and Josh Freese as well as guitarist Franz Stahl.
"It should go without saying that without the boundless energy of William Goldsmith, the seasoned wisdom of Franz Stahl, and the thunderous wizardry of Josh Freese, this story would be incomplete, so we extend our heartfelt gratitude for the time, music, and memories that we shared with each of them over the years. Thank you, gentlemen," Grohl wrote.
Grohl also brought up the late drummer and vocalist Taylor Hawkins, who joined Foo Fighters in 1997 and remained until his death in 2022. Hawkins reportedly died due to sudden cardiac arrest caused by an overdose, according to a toxicology report.
"And… Taylor. Your name is spoken every day, sometimes with tears, sometimes with a smile, but you are still in everything we do, everywhere we go, forever. The enormity of your beautiful soul is only rivaled by the infinite longing we feel in your absence. We all miss you beyond words. Foo Fighters will forever include Taylor Hawkins in every note that we play, until we do finally reach our destination," Grohl wrote.
The full statement is posted on the Foo Fighters website.
