Again with more of the desert than the country smouldering through Dinosaur Jr’s elliptical guitar motifs and the eminently revered J Mascis’ understated singing having a hypnotic affect (as he, time and again, repeats the refrain of “I feel the pain of everyone/And then I feel nothing”) ‘Feel The Pain’ is suggestive and provocative without ever threatening to lift the ceiling off of its quirky musical insinuations. Mr Mascis is still a man of shadows and feints and oblique credibility.
