Red hair, freckles, familiarity with the entire Planxty back catalogue, and a tendency to turn up in Whelan's. That's it decided then, Ed Sheeran is our Honorary Irishman of 2012...
If there's one thing we love here at Hot Press, it's finding an over-achieving Brit with Irish heritage and greedily claiming him as our very own. That's just what we've done with chart-conquering acoustic troubadour Ed Sheeran.
Hot Press "girl in the know" Celina Murphy caught up with Mr. Sheeran recently. Obsessive fans, Ivor Novello's, Brit Awards, and and a post-Olympic comparison of Gotye and Pink Floyd were all thrown up in an entertaining conversation.
"We've had some girls camp in my parents' back garden though, that was quite interesting, but I haven't lived there for about five years."

"I think with a song like that it's like someone covering that Gotye song in 20 years time. There'll be hardcore Gotye fans who won't want to hear them cover it."
