Documentary on Gavin Friday to premiere
RTÉ will air the first-ever documentary based on the life of the musician and close friend of U2
The documentary entitled "Ladies & Gentlemen, Gavin Friday" will premiere on Tuesday 6th April at 10:15 pm on RTÉ One, as part of the channel's Arts Lives series.
The 52 minute film showcases an intimate portrait of the Dublin punk rocker, who first appeared on the Irish music scene in the 1970s with the punk band the Virgin Prunes. Since their disbandment in 1986, Friday has since collaborated with the likes of Maurice Seezer, Quincy Jones, and Herb Macken, frequently reinventing his music and onstage persona. He also went on to explore a career in acting, appearing in movies like Disco Pigs and Breakfast on Pluto.
Known also for his life-long friendship with Bono and the Edge, the documentary features contributions from the U2 frontman and guitarist, as well as Jim Sheridan, Neil Jordan, and Hot Press's own Niall Stokes.
