Denise Chaila and Philip Lynott star in new flip cover special issue of Hot Press
The upcoming issue is out now!
The new flip cover special issue of Hot Press is finally here! It stars two Irish legends: one in-the-making, the brilliant Denise Chaila (front cover); and the other a proper dyed-in-the-wool Irish superstar, Philip Lynott (back cover)! Pick up your copy in shops now, or order online below.
Let's start with Philo on the flip. Hitting screens on December 26, the brand-new, beautifully shot documentary Philip Lynott: Songs For While I’m Away offers unique insights into what made the Thin Lizzy leader so special, as a musician, a songwriter and as a man. Roe McDermott gets the inside story from documentary maker Emer Reynolds; Roisin Dwyer renews acquaintances with Philo’s right-hand man, Scott Gorham in what is an extraordinary, powerful and moving interview; and there are major contributions from Hot Press editor and author of Philip Lynott: Still In Love With You, Niall Stokes; and from Pat Carty, who waxes eloquent about what he considers the most under-rated, under-appreciated and generally unsung Thin Lizzy album of them all.
And now to Denise Chaila! The Narolane Records collective have become a towering presence in Irish music during lockdown – due to both the legendary beats and the biting social commentary of the three main movers. In an in-depth interview, Stuart Clark takes a walk on the Shannonside to find out what makes Denise Chaila tick; and questions her partners in music God Knows and MuRli about their dreams and ambitions. As part of a special hip-hop focus, we also catch up with JYellowL – make sure to tune in to his upcoming Live Stream on the Hot Press YouTube channel – and Nealo, and recommend ten killer Irish hip hop tunes to add to your playlist.
Plus, you can look forward to highly entertaining and hugely informative interviews with Ireland's wonderfully mad scientist Professor Luke O'Neill, author extraordinaire Kevin Barry, and more, in this seriously special issue of Hot Press!
