Heart-stripping confessional award of the fortnight definitely goes to Bettie Serveert for ‘Crutches’. It certainly doesn’t sound as if Bettie needs any artificial supports or stimulants or appendages of any kind whatsoever. ‘Crutches’ is a teen anthem of sorts that has enough grungey understatement to avoid the pitfalls of being an epic in its own playing time.
