Breathe easy: Picturehouse support smoking ban
Dedicating their new single to the anti-smoking lobby, Picturehouse are welcoming next week's smoke-free zones
Picturehouse have come out in favour of Ireland's new anti-smoking legislation which becomes law on Monday March 29.
Dedicating their song 'Breathe' to the anti-smoking lobby, singer Dave Browne says: "The years that the band and I have spent performing in smoke-filled ballrooms and pubs has really had an impact on our health. I've noticed the effect on my vocals chords especially. We thought we'd never see the day when musicians and others could work and perform in smoke-free venues so it's fantastic that the ban comes in on Monday."
Welcoming the band's support, Minister Micheal Martin enthuses, "I'm delighted to see musicians getting behind the ban on smoking in the workplace. I'm confident that this health and safety measure will be introduced with the minimum of fuss."
