Boyle Grabs Irish No.1 Spot
The battle for dominance of the Christmas market is hotting up, with the runner-up in this year's Britain's Got Talent contest, Susan Boyle, going straight to No.1 in the Irish album charts this week.
Boyle's I Dreamed A Dream album takes over the top spot from JLS, whose eponymous debut has dropped to No.2. Susan Boyle's album has already started to break industry records, ranking as Amazon's best selling album ever on pre-sales. "It's going to massive," one industry insider confirmed. "It's going to capture the imagination of people in the US, and there's a big campaign planned, so it'll be the biggest selling record in a long time."
The album includes Boyle's extraordinary interpretation of the Rolling Stones' classic 'Wild Horses', as well as her signature 'I Dreamed A Dream' (from Les Miserables), 'Cry Me A River' and 'You'll See'.
Other newcomers in the Irish charts this week include The Priests' Harmony (No.7), Rihanna's Rated R (No.9) and The Very Best of Enya (No.22).
Horslips have also performed well over the past week, with their Treasury album climbing from 42 to 26, ahead of their O2 and Odyssey gigs.
Meanwhile, comedian Mario Rosenstock remains in the top 10, dropping from No.5 to No.8.
