Yup, the legendary busker troupe are back for a one-off gig.
Lock up your daughters! Word has just reached us that maverick ‘90s act The Big Geraniums – the foremost Anglo-American-folk-pop-ska-punk octets with a dog of the late 20th century - have finally made good on their threats to reform for a one-off Irish gig in Whelan's tonight.
Having first formed in Covent Garden in 1990, this loose collective of buskers made their way to Galway where their live shows became the stuff of legend. Having signed to Warners, they moved to Dublin to record debut album Tall Tales & Short Stories (which went Top 10). The following year the band moved to Amsterdam, beyond which little was heard of them.
According to New York-based guitarist Jonas, “Despite overwhelming popular demand, the band will be performing all the same songs they were doing in the early ‘90s, though a lot of them will be played considerably slower, due to their advancing years.”
Doors open at 8pm and tickets will be €10. Support will be by drummer Seanin’s current act Trubadore.
