Belfast's Planetlove line-up gets reverential
This September, Belfast is going to be Run's house, as Run D.M.C.'s iconic Rev. Run himself heads up a line-up that boasts some of the world's finest dance and electronic artists.
From simple beginnings in New York, Run D.M.C. have the bragging rights of doing everything for hip hop that Elvis did for rock and roll. Run D.M.C was the first rap act to: Have a No. 1 R&B charting rap album, have a Top 10 pop charting rap album, earn RIAA gold, platinum, and multi-platinum albums, appear on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine, receive a Grammy Award nomination, have a video added to MTV, appear on Saturday Night Live and American Bandstand as well as winning crossover appeal with rock and hip-hop fans the world over.
It will be the honorable Reverend's only festival in the UK and Ireland this year, and adds weight to what is already a heavyweight line-up featuring the likes of Calvin Harris and trance stars Above & Beyond, Ferry Corsten, Gareth Emery, Sander van Doorn, John O'Callaghan, Marco V and Dash Berlin.
A specially constructed festival village will have all the usual bells and whistles - a funfair, world foods, stalls and much more.
"The whole ethos of this year's festival is to give our music fans the biggest and best line-up we've ever had at the best price possible. We are going for the ultimate 'wow' factor with Planetlove this year. For the first time ever we are bringing the festival into the heart of Belfast; we're running it over two days, and we have enlisted the most amazing and broad line-up that Planetlove has ever enjoyed," said Eddie Wray of Planetlove.
With over 20 hours of music over two days on September 10-11 in Belfast's King's Hall Showgrounds the claims of festival organisers appear to be well founded. Tickets are available from [link]www.ticketmaster.ie[/link] and usual outlets, with a range of limited offer options, deposit schemes and day tickets starting at £39.95 excluding booking.
