Ard Soilse Productions has opened a full-scale production rehearsal studio in Shannon, Co Clare
It’s a state-of-the-art 6,000sq ft facility that includes in-house lighting, rigging and sound facilities, as well as production offices, catering and changing rooms.
According to Joe Betts, director of Ard Soilse, “The studio is designed to allow any event, show or tour to rehearse and perfect its performance and production, in a full scale venue, before it takes to the live stage. As productions become more complex, rehearsal becomes increasingly important, and the ASP rehearsal studio is an ideal environment for them.”
The studio is located in Ard Soilse’s warehouse complex, just two minutes from Shannon Airport and the M18.
Betts and the company’s head rigger Jay Kavanagh successfully passed the PLASA NRC Level 2, after a rigorous two-day practical and theoretical assessment at a training centre in Birmingham. As Betts told Hot Press, “We registered with the Professional Lighting and Sound Association (PLASA) nearly two years ago, and in the meantime developed work practices and training based on the best codes of practice from the UK and Germany. I’m sure this enabled us to successfully meet the requirements for the NRC.”
Earlier this year ASP became the first Irish entertainment industry company to gain membership of the Lifting Equipment Engineers Association.
