Alien sequel on the way

Rumors started circulating after a few pieces of concept art for a new Alien movie were released about a month ago. Today, we have confirmation today that it is happening with Neill Blomkamp at the helm!

Blomkamp has made a name for himself in the sci-fi landscape over the last few years with Elysium and the highly acclaimed District 9 under his belt. His latest film, Chappie, comes out March 6.

The Alien franchise began with Ridley Scott's horror classic Alien in 1975 and James Cameron's more action-oriented sequel in 1986. There have been more installments in the years since but none that quite captured the peaks of the first two, which starred Sigourney Weaver as heroine Ellen Ripley (Weaver stars in Chappie and there are rumors of her return to the Alien franchise as well). We're hoping Blomkamp will be the man to get the job done!
