A Ladder To The Stars

Take Crowded House, Big Star and a pinch of Eagles (or Randy Newman if you’re out of Eagles, no, really) and you’ve got Grand Drive. ‘Being Alive’ is actually a superior number to the so-so title track, while ‘The Fair Goes Slow’ is a beautifully sparse, piano driven piece of melancholia that I’d play to my girlfriend if she wasn’t constantly listening to the fucking Strokes.
