In a more perfect world, not only would the Donnas kick D12’s sorry asses but they’d also be up there battling with the likes of Britney and Christina, although how the parents of the world’s teenage girls would react to their tales of sex and rock ‘n’ roll is perhaps debatable. ’40 Boys In 40 Nights’ is their whole ethos distilled into a crisp three minutes, a punk/metal exterior belying a knowing pop heart – hand claps and all. As for the Britney single, suffice to say that it’s a powerful ballad written by Shania Twain and we’ve listened to it so you don’t have to. Don’t mention it.
