Netflix shares trailer for The Bastard Son & The Devil Himself, featuring Roísín Murphy
The new spooky series, based on the Half Bad trilogy by Sally Green, is set for release on October 28.
Just today, Netflix shared the trailer for The Bastard Son & The Devil Himself, starring Jay Lycurgo and Nadia Parkes. The new darkly comedic Netflix thriller series from director Joe Barton of The Lazarus Project will launch at the end of this month and features Irish musician Roísín Murphy and Vikings’ Karen Connell.
The cast for the new series is fronted by Jay Lycurgo, who plays the part of sixteen-year-old Nathan, the illegitimate son of the world’s most dangerous witch. The show follows Nathan, as he encounters the boundaries between ‘good’ and ‘bad,’ alongside the mischief-inclined Annalise and charismatic Gabriel.

In a world where blood is currency, their world is dark, thrilling and oftentimes bleakly funny.
Set to launch October 28 on Netflix, the cast of the series includes Emilien Vekemans (Transferts), Isobel Jesper Jones, Paul Ready, David Gyasi, Kerry Fox (Conversations With Friends), Liz White, Karen Connell (Vikings), Fehinti Balogun (Dune) and Misha Butler.
Plus, Brit Award and Mercury Music Prize nominee Roísín Murphy marks her drama debut, playing the part of a powerful witch named Mercury.

The singer hadn’t planned on merging into the acting world until now, when she was approached to take part in the series. As the show makes its premiere just in time for Halloween, Murphy is gearing up for the release of her sixth solo album, a collaborative effort with German producer DJ Koze.
The Bastard Son & The Devil Himself is written by Joe Barton and executive produced by Barton, Andy Serkis, Jonathan Cavendish, Will Tennant, Phil Robertson and Colm McCarthy, who directed the first four episodes. Rachna Suri and Debs Paterson also serve as directors. The show is produced by Adrian Sturges and Steve Clark-Hall and boasts an original score from BritPop group Let’s Eat Grandma.
A darkly humorous, romantic and action-packed young adult show based on the 2014 Half Bad novel and trilogy by Sally Green, Netflix's new show arrives just in time for Halloween.
