Netflix offer Irish subtitles option for first time ever on House of Guinness
The series premiered today.
Netflix are including Irish subtitles for the first time ever in their new series House of Guinness.
Created by Peaky Blinders writer Steven Knight, the show explores the history of the Guinness brewing dynasty.
Speaking about the decision, Knight said: “The Irish language is such a vital part of the country’s culture and identity, and making the series accessible in this way allows us to celebrate that heritage and reach those viewers who prefer to watch As Gaelige.”
The move is part of Netflix’s "ongoing commitment to Irish members and the country’s creative sector". Some of Netflix’s most popular productions, including Wednesday, Vikings: Valhalla and the upcoming series, Grown Ups, were filmed extensively in Ireland.
House of Guinness stars Belfast actor Anthony Boyle as Arthur Guinness and Louis Partridge as his brother Edward, alongside Fionn O’Shea, James Norton, Niamh McCormack, and others.
