De Staat confirm Dublin gig in October and reveal three new songs
The Dutch alternative rock band shared three powerful new tracks as part of their red, yellow and blue project today.
Dutch alternative rock band De Staat have confirmed a live show at Dublin's Grand Social on October 15th as part of their upcoming UK and Ireland tour.
The announcement was accompanied by today's release of another red, yellow and blue trilogy, which includes the emotive tracks 'Head On The Block', 'Danger' and 'Someone To Be'.
Instead of an album, the group has been releasing music in stages. Band frontman Torre Florim compared the approach to food, saying that fans will "get a three-course dinner every few months" - a red appetiser, a yellow main course and a blue dessert. The project allows the band to embrace the broad scope of what they do without having to narrow all their different tracks into an LP, they say.
The red, yellow and blue project, which started in November 2021 and will continue over the course of 2022 and 2023, will see a large collection of songs being released across various digital platforms.
Florim called today's red song 'Head On The Block' their "bubbling inspired stomper of the summer. An ego driven, aggressive, dance song. It’s an ironic take on my love hate relationship with being a performer."

The yellow song 'Danger', on the other hand, is a "funky ode to danger. I believe you need danger in your life, to truly feel alive," he said.

'Someone To Be' under the colour blue, Florim continued, "is about the frustration of not knowing where to go or what to be. When you have a desire for a simple solution to personal unrest. Arrangement-wise this is one of my favourites: who knew a swing beat, a dubstep bass, strings, tubular bells and dreamy vocals make a hell of a combination."
