Archive article of the week: interview with Roy Keane, 1993

Regardless of which side of the great divide you were on this week (we love you Roy!) (ahem) it's well beyond question that Roy Keane was - and hopefully will be again - Ireland's greatest footballer. Thus, here we present, somewhat sadly, our Archive Article of the Week - an interview with our lucky number six published in 1993, when Keane, only 21, was still playing for Nottingham Forest. Even this early on, Keane's already clearly a perfectionist, already hardcore, viewing his own - and others' - performance with a steely assessing eye that makes perfect sense in retrospect, now that we know just how gifted he is.

(Oh - and what's more, this interview was written by Irish Times sportswriter Mary Hannigan, in her first-ever major interview. So that'd be our Celebrity Author of the Month, then, as well.)
