Will Self, Julian Cope & more for EP Literary Tent
A host of written word heavyweights will be appearing in the Literary Tent down in Stradbally this weekend.
The Arts Council-supported Literary Tent is always one of the biggest draws in the Mindfield Arena at Electric Picnic and so it should prove once again in 2014, as a plethora of big names are confirmed.
Talking about their work and the arts will be acclaimed scribe Will Self, still basking in the critical afterglow of his 2012 novel Umbrella and ex-Teardrop Explodes frontman Julian Cope, who recently published his debut novel, One Three One.
Eimear McBride and Paul Kingsnorth will both be on hand for readings, while actor Aidan Gillen will read James Joyce's 'The Dead' before Peter Murphy gives us his recent "cover version".
Short story writers Donal Ryan and Colin Barrett are on the bill, as is Roddy Doyle, who will read from The Commitments, alongside a performing Radiators From Space. Add in Paul Muldoon, Amy Bloom and many more, plus Jim Shridan and Peter Coonan paying tribute to Brendan Behan, and you have a truly wonderful line-up.
It all takes place August 29 – 31.
