New Leftfield album on the way
Neil Barnes exclusively reveals his plans in the latest Hot Press.
Neil Barnes has revealed to Hot Press that a whopping 13 years after the release of Rhythm & Stealth a third Leftfield studio album is finally in the pipeline.
Having gone it alone without second half of the duo, Paul Daley for live performances, Barnes is now ready to produce an LP minus his former partner.
Barnes said the record will take a “year or so” to get ready, despite already having some work done and though keeping to Leftfield’s sound will be something different to the the act’s previous two outings.
“The idea is to do something that’s a development in music. I can’t reinvent the wheel, obviously there’s a sound to Leftfield that we’ve got, but without having Paul involved it will be a different type of record.”
Hesitant to make too big a deal out of the album, Neil is cagey and won’t say who, but admits he’s planning to work with some “really exciting people”.
