Saxon men plot Irish tour
Brace yourself for a night of unashamed NWOBHM nostalgia.
The Graham Oliver and Steve ‘Dobbie’ Dawson version of Saxon return to Ireland for shows in The Stables, Mullingar (August 13); Ballykeefe Amphitheatre, Kilkenny (14); Fred Zeppelin’s, Cork (15); and Baker Place, Limerick (16).
Tickets for all gigs are €10.
Offically billed for legal reasons as Oliver/Dawson Saxon, the guitarist and bassist continue to bash out NWOBHM favourites like ‘Wheels Of Steel’, ‘747 (Strangers In The Night)’, ‘Motorcycle Man’ and ‘Never Surrender’ with considerable gusto.
If Dawson’s playing style looks familiar, that’s because he was the inspiration for Derek Smalls’ character in Spinal Tap. Sorry kids, Derek isn’t real. And neither is Santa or the Easter Bunny.
