Pogue Cait O'Riordan joins new band
Pogues' bassist Cait O'Riordan has joined a new band with former Blue In Heaven drummer Dave Clarke and Hothouse Flowers guitarist/singer Fiachna O'Braonain.
The Pogues’ bass player Cait O’Riordan explains to hotpress.com how her involvement in the new band PreNup came about.
As she told Jackie Hayden, “A couple of Chrismasses back, Simon Carmody asked me to come and play bass for him at a private party where he wanted to do a punk set. When I turned up for rehearsals the drummer was Dave Clarke who I knew from the time he’d been with Blue In Heaven. We did the gig and it was fantastic. Fiachna O’Braonain from the Hothouse Flowers was at the party and a bit later I got a call from him saying that he and Dave were going to be doing a little side-project to the Hothouse Flowers that was going to be a bit more rock’n’roll and they reckoned I’d be right for the bass player gig. He played me the songs, and they all sounded good to me, so we jammed a bit and it all just clicked. So we have an album called Hell To Pay out at the beginning of April and a tour of the USA in the middle of March.”
