Youth Music Theatre UK to audition in Ireland
Youth Music Theatre UK has announced it will be holding auditions in Dublin, Belfast, Derry and Newry next month.
Auditions will take place at Dance Ireland, Foley St., Dublin on February 14, the Newry Arts Centre on February 15, Stranmills College, Belfast on February 16 and the Millenium Forum, Derry on February 17.
The auditions are open to young people aged 11-21 and take the form of two-hour workshops with about 25 participants led by a director, choreographer and composer. Places must be booked in advance - full details can be found at http://www.ymtuk.org/auditions.html
300 successful applicants will be placed with one of eight new musical theatre projects in the UK, including 'Underground Ireland' which is being produced in Belfast by Riverdance composer Mark Dougherty.
Noted YMT UK alumni include Lucy Griffiths, start of the BBC's Robin Hood series, as well as Charlotte Ritchie and Daisy Chute, members of the classical girl group All Angels.
