U2 have quashed rumours of a residency in London's O2 Arena next year.

In a statement posted on the U2.com website, the band said there were currently no live dates scheduled for next year and warned fans against buying any tickets from unofficial sources.

Bono and co. are due to release a new studio album in the summer of 2008.
