New Order to play Oxegen
New Order will play this summer's Oxegen festival and there is a strong possibility that Queens Of The Stone Age and the Cocteau Twins will also be added to the bill
New Order are the latest act set to play Oxegen Festival, with the strong possibility of Queens of the Stone Age joining them and whispers of the Cocteau Twins too.
New Order, who release their new album Waiting for the Siren’s Call on March 28, confirmed to XFM, London’s indie music station, that they were playing “Glastonbury, T in the Park and one in Ireland”. Assuming Bernard Sumner’s reference isn’t to Galway Early Music Festival, they’ll be joining the likes of Green Day, Foo Fighters and The Killers at the event, taking place on 9-10 July at Punchestown Racecourse, Dublin.
And though frontman Josh Homme has had to cancel UK dates after suffering a lung infection (these rock stars are a poorly lot), Queens of the Stone Age are down for T in the Park, Oxegen’s sister festival, making very likely to be one of the next confirmations for the Dublin festival.
It’s a similar situation with the Cocteau Twins. The band split up in 1998, but agreed to reform to play the Coachella Music Festival, California, which takes place in April this year. But according to virtualfestivals.com, they’re also down for T in the Park and therefore a strong contender for Oxegen.
