So you're strapped for cash and you can't make New Years Eve in Sydney, Barcelona or New York. Don't worry, there's still plenty on offer in Ireland. Here are some of the highlights:
If you’re based in the mighty capital, you’ll be spoiled for choice...
Current HP cover boy Jerry Fish & his Mudbugs will be entertaining in The Ambassador.
Frames fans can catch Glen Hansard and co. at The Olympia with support from the ever-popular Mark Geary. There will also be a treat in store from the loveable Turn who are sneaking in a performance before they run off to ring in the New Year at Whelans. Joining Turn on the night will be Dundalk hopefuls Red Twelve and Tipperary all-girl trio Fair Verona.
If you’re not a fan of Irish winters and fancy closing your eyes to fantasise about ‘July’ and ‘Mexico’, you can join in on the sing-along with Mundy at The Village. (And if you fancy a bop afterwards, the Dermody–duo will be on DJ duties downstairs.)
It doesn’t stop there! If you pop down to Vicar St., Damien Dempsey will be in seizing the eve’. Support comes from Wonderstuff man Miles Hunt and also from rockers, Alligator.
Dara make their long-awaited return to the live circuit in The Isaac Butt. The 10-piece will be playing an unplugged set accompanied by their string section. Support will be provided by the aforementioned Alligator.

And if you’re into yer ska, check out The Hub. Headlining on the night are Bad Manners. Getting everyone in the mood will be the hotly tipped ska-punksters Subtonics and Seven Deadly Sins.
Elsewhere in the land, Dublin psycho-billy band The Things will be visiting the Spirit Store in Dundalk. They will be playing their action-packed Cramps-style tunes. Catch them before they take over the world! Support on the night comes from Pete Johnson.
Galway will host Ireland’s much-loved Sawdoctors at the Black Box, and for something completely different, Kerri Chandler will play with Anthony Flanagan to entertain the the house-heads in Club FX, Cork.
But if it's drum ‘n’ bass you're after, Dublin's where it's at. The city's premier drum 'n' bass DJs - including Breakage, Zero Tolerance, Naphta, Kenny & Keevo, Rohan and Polska - will get together for a big New Years Eve in the Metropolitan Bar.
Have a good one folks and keep it safe!
