Northern Ireland's The Amazing Pilots, having signed to Chrysalis last year amid tanti industry kerfuffle, launch their first single this week. Just in time for their unbelievably cool support slot in a fortnight - with none other than Lee Hazlewood in the Olympia

Doubtless inspired by the nice things that were said about them recently in Homefront, The Amazing Pilots open their singles account this week with 'Run Against Traffic'.

Reckoned by the band to be "somewhere between the dark simplicity of The Velvet Underground and the modern rush of Doves", it's backed by 'Everything You Said Came True' and 'Stupid, I Loved You So'.

After relocating last year to the UK, the Norn Iron quartet bagged a publishing deal with Chrysalis Music and recorded a track for the Lee Hazelwood tribute album that's just emerged on City Slang. 2002 promises to be even more successful with a posse of A&R types pursuing them round the UK.
