Trump administration calls Bruce Springsteen a “loser” in statement
The statement comes after last month’s release of Springsteen’s protest song ‘Streets of Minneapolis’
The Trump administration has released a statement attacking Bruce Springsteen.
Last month, Springsteen released the protest song ‘Streets of Minneapolis’, which was highly critical of the Trump administration. The administration’s statement follows Springsteen’s announcement on Tuesday of a new American tour with The E Street Band.
“When this loser Springsteen comes back home to his own City of Ruins in his head, he'll realize his Glory Days are behind him and his fans have left him Out in the Street, putting him in a Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out because he has a severe case of Trump Derangement Syndrome that has rotted his brain," said White House Communications Director Steven Cheung in a statement to Politico, referencing a number of Springsteen songs.
Springsteen, a vocal critic of the Trump administration, has been a target of the White House before.
Last year, on the opening night of his Land of Hope and Dreams Tour in Europe, Springsteen called the Trump administration “corrupt, incompetent and treasonous”, and called them out for “taking sadistic pleasure in the pain that they inflict on loyal American workers.” In response, US President Donald Trump called Springsteen a “dried out ‘prune’ of a rocker” who “ought to KEEP HIS MOUTH SHUT”.
His new tour is the Land of Hope and Dreams American Tour.
“We are living through dark, disturbing and dangerous times, but do not despair — the cavalry is coming!” said Springsteen in announcing the tour. “Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band will be taking the stage this spring from Minneapolis to California to Texas to Washington, D.C. for the Land of Hope And Dreams American Tour.
“We will be rocking your town in celebration and in defense of America — American democracy, American freedom, our American Constitution and our sacred American dream — all of which are under attack by our wannabe king and his rogue government in Washington, D.C. Everyone, regardless of where you stand or what you believe in, is welcome — so come on out and join the United Free Republic of E Street Nation for an American spring of Rock ‘n’ Rebellion! I’ll see you there!”
