Gavin Duffy is confirmed as fourth official candidate.

Gavin Duffy officially entered the running for the presidency today with news coming through of his securing enough votes form councillors on Waterford County Council. He had already received support from Carlow, Wicklow and Meath County Councils.

The businessman and Dragons Den star will be joined by current President Michael D Higgins, fellow Dragons star Sean Gallagher and Senator Joan Freeman. Other potential candidates including Kevin Sharkey and Gemma O'Doherty are still waiting official nominations.

Sinn Féin are expected to announce the candidate that they will be putting forward over the weekend.
