Monster Irish music auction to go up for grabs
A new initiative to raise money for homeless people will see one lucky bidder collect one jumbo load of loot
A charity auction is seeking to help raise funds for homeless people - and is seeking the assistance of Irish musicians to make it happen.
Acts all over the country - from the biggest stars to the less well-known talents - are being asked to send signed albums to be part of the enormous lot which will be sold to one individual bidder in June. The auction will be streamed online, and take place in Whelan's.
The fundraising initiative is the brainchild of Peter Meades. Peter, who has experienced homelessness himself, is looking to raise at least €25,000, which will then be spread across all four provinces. Artists already involved include Glen Hansard (pictured), Imelda May, Mundy and The Strypes.
If you have a box of your band's first and only album up in the attic - or if, y'know, Bono's reading this right now - and you want to get involved, send your signed albums (or, indeed, merchandise) to Inner City Helping Homeless, 37 Killarney Court, Dublin 1
or
Man in Hat, c/o Abner Browns Barbershop, 6 Rathgar Road, Rathmines, Dublin 6
or
Keiron Black, c/o Mercantile Hotel, 28 Dame Street, Dublin 2.
