Zayn Malik is teaming up with the makers of Entourage to produce a new boyband television show.

The Sun reports the 23-year-old will be an executive produce of a series that follows a One Direction-type band as they journey through the music industry.

"This is a big deal for Zayn," a source close to the singer said. "He has been keen to get stuck into different projects outside of music and this is the perfect move.

"It’s a subject he knows lots about and he will call upon his experiences to advise the scriptwriters on the show."

Zayn, who didn't kept his contempt for his time in 1D a secret, left the group in March 2015 to pursue a solo career.
