Yelp to create over 100 new jobs in Dublin
Bono thought to be instrumental in encouraging the online urban guide's plans to base its new European headquarters in Dublin.
Good news for the Irish economy, as Yelp announce their plans to create over 100 new jobs in the country. Based in San Francisco, the multinational operates an "online urban guide". Its new European headquarters is now set to be based in Dublin.
Among the investors in Yelp are Elevation Partners – in which Bono is a major player. The U2 frontman has made a number of highly successful investments in technology companies, including in Facebook.
“There is no doubt that he was instrumental in encouraging Yelp to base its operations in Ireland,” an industry insider told Hot Press. “Bono is hugely influential in this arena and he has consistently made people aware of the benefits of being based in Ireland, especially for tech companies.”
