Woman jailed over fraudulent attempt to steal Graceland from the Presley family
Graceland has been owned by Elvis's granddaughter, model and actress Riley Keough since August 2023.
Lisa Jeanine Findley of Missouri was sentenced to four years in prison after attempting to scam the Presley family out of the Graceland property in Memphis, Tennessee.
Graceland was the estate owned by famed singer Elvis Presley until his death in 1977. The mansion was then owned by Presley's daughter Lisa Marie Presley until her passing in 2023. Since then, the estate has been in the hand's of Lisa Marie's daughter Riley Keough.
Findley created a fake company called Naussany Investments and falsified court documents to state that Lisa Marie had taken a $3.8 million loan out on the property and that she had failed to settle the loan before her death. In 2024, Naussany Investments claimed Graceland would be repossessed as collateral for the failed compensation.
Aside from being Elvis's homestead, Graceland serves as a museum to modern day fans, boasting 120 acres of land and the singer's collection of aircrafts and cars, along with a garden where Elvis and many other members of the Presley family are buried.
Under the facade of the fake company, Findley threatened to foreclose on Graceland and even placed an ad in the local newspaper listing the property as for sale. She also warned to auction off the property unless the Presley family settled the claim for $2.85 million.
Keough took legal action to prevent the auction from commencing, and a judge halted the sale. Findley falsely perpetuated to Keough's legal team that the fraud scheme was the doing of Nigerian identity thieves instead of the fault of her own fabricated company.
She was arrested in August of 2024 and has now been charged with fraud and aggravated identity theft.
