WATCH: Sigur Rós on tour
The Icelandic band preview new music as they lose a member.
Currently holed up in an LA recording studio, Sigur Rós took time out from trying to recreate the sound of angels diving headfirst into erupting volcanoes to put together a little teaser clip for their upcoming North American tour. Happily, it also includes some new music, giving you a sense of where they're going with the follow-up to last summer's Valtari. The band themselves say they're heading in a completely new direction – that record should drop this year.
In other Sigur Rós news, it has been confirmed that Kjartan Sveinsson has left the band completely. Early in 2012 it was announced that the multi-instrumentalist would take some temporary time away from touring but the break is now permanent.
